Professor Darko Zibar, SAOT-Young Researcher Award Winner, receives prestigious award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

Professor Darko Zibar (Technical University of Denmark, DTU), receives the prestigious Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel International Research Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The official award ceremony will take place in Bamberg, Germany  13 – 16 October 2022.

Winners of the Bessel Award receive €45,000 and are invited to spend a period of up to one year collaborating on a long-term research project with specialist colleagues at a research institution in Germany. This award will support Prof. Zibar’s collaboration with his nominator, Prof. Bernhard Schmauß. The collaboration will focus on quantum-noise limited sensing using already installed fibre infrastructure.

In 2016, Prof. Zibar won the Young Researcher Award of the Erlangen Graduate School in Advanced Optical Technologies (SAOT).
